The Dairy State Cheese & Beer Festival is one of the biggest fundraisers to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha and is held annually at the legendary Brat Stop in Kenosha, WI. This year, on Saturday, April 12, 2014, the festival raised money to help support after school programs for at risk youth of the community. This fun-filled event features a variety of Wisconsin cheeses, some of the most sought after beers from Wisconsin and beyond and some great bluegrass, polka and rock bands. This is a “don’t miss event” for anybody who likes beer, cheese and music!
At Dooley & Associates we provide all marketing, create all event signage to be used at the festival, assist with the planning of the event as well as participate as a beer-pouring sponsor. This year, we helped push through the idea of having a VIP Ticket/Area – allowing for more tickets to be sold and more money to be raised for the Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha.
Through our marketing efforts we created print ads that ran in local newspapers and publications to promote the event and push ticket sales and sponsorships. On the digital side we created email blast newsletters that were sent to members of the community as well as a heavy push on Facebook. We created a Facebook event page while also maintaining a BGCK sponsored page that we utilized as a “mini-site” in communicating information about the event, updated beers to be offered, etc. This page alone had 836 followers in the week prior to the event, while the event page had 1,300+ invitations sent, inviting others to join in on the fun.
We found that a great way to reach more than just these 2,000+ people was to utilize promoted posts on Facebook. Through individual promoted posts leading up to the event we were able to reach 85,000+ people that we normally would not have been able to. This helped us sell out the VIP tickets fairly quickly and really helped in the overall ticket sales for the event.
